1. Rinpung Dzong, Paro
Dzong means Fort and Rinoung is a serene fort with towering walls which was built in the 16th century and is popularly known as the Fortress on a Heap of Jewels by the old people. It is a perfect example of showcasing Bhutanese tradition.
2. Buddha Dordenma Statue, Thimphu
Visible from almost every part of Thimpu, The Buddha Dordenma Statue is the pride of Thimpu. It is built at the foot of the hills and is 169 feet tall. The gold and bronze statue of Buddha is highly praised by visitors along with the Kuensel Phodrang nature park which is extremely beautiful.
3. Tiger’s Nest, Paro
Also known as the Taktsang Monastery, this is the place is highlighted in almost every column of Bhutan. Known for its magnificence, this holy monastery of guru Rinpoche is hidden in the mountains. It is one of the famous places of pilgrimage, one need to trek an easy path to reach here.
4. Punakha Dzong
The second largest dzong in Bhutan, Punakha is popular worldwide for its brilliant structure and architecture. The dzong, most rightly depicts the beautiful stories, traditions and amazing history of the Buddhist culture in Bhutan. The elaborate paintings in the dzong is a must watch.
5. Dochula Pass
Built in the memory of the Bhutanese soldiers, who died in a war against the insurgents from India, this monument consists of 108 Chortens or Stupas. The temple and the stupas are made with lot of detailing are absolutely gorgeous. With the picturesque Gangkar Puensum peak in the background, Dochula is a destination not to be missed.
6. Phobjikha Valley, Phobjikha
Blessed with striking valleys, mountains and lush green landscape surrounding it, Phobjikha is a town in the central part of Bhutan. The place is popular for several day hikes that take you to awesome viewing points for several peaks. The lush green walks are a food to your soul.
